Brief info
Sensei Alfred Imohisimi Ohimain was born in England on 6th June 1963 and is an alumnus of St. Finbarrs College Akoka and The University Of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile- Ife in Osun State, Nigeria.
He started karate in March 1976 and returned to Nigeria as a green belt in 1977 and continued his training under Sensei Jack Mom (who was the most senior karateka and perhaps the most imminently qualified Karate instructor at that time of its history in Nigeria).
He has in his over forty years of experience, competed in various Karate championships at various levels (i.e club, state, and national levels). spending most of his time coaching now, he has produced a good number of the athletes on the Nigerian national karate team.
He is a 7th-degree black belt and has served Nigeria in the respectable capacity of the national karate coach a few years ago.
Alfred was one of the first karate coaches to graduate from the National Institute of Sports (1983) and currently has a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education (University of Lagos, Nigeria).
Having taught in different government organizations (e.g. Nigerian police force, Nigerian airport Authority Security, etc.) and private organizations, Alfred is no stranger to training individuals in effective self-defense.
A strong believer in constant personal development, he regularly travels to Europe and the USA to train and improve his technical level, teaching, and coaching skills.
Alfred is a result-oriented teacher and coach of high repute. Greatly respected in Nigeria, he currently teaches karate and physical education at the American International School, Lagos – Nigeria.
He remains probably the most accomplished karate personality in the country as some of his achievements presented below will corroborate.

Was appointed as an assessor for the karate union of Great Britain’s (KUGB) instructor qualification program.
Nigerian national karate coach. 2000 – 2004, during which the Nigerian team won:
📍 The UFAK zone 3 karate championship, 2002.
🏅 3 silver and 4 bronze medals at the 8th All Africa Games, Abuja. Nigeria’s best result at the games to date
🏅 3rd. place {open weight) fak Africa karate championship Durban, South Africa 2004.

📍 He is a Ufak zone 3, ‘A’ grade referee for Kata & Kumite

He is currently the Chief Instructor& President for the Nigerian Association of Shotokan Karate (NASK) which he continues to lead and inspire, and oversee numerous learning events such as:

Sensei Alfred in his current role as chief instructor provides overall leadership for the development and growth of NASK, working with all instructors and functional heads to ensure that the day-to-day running of the association and the operation of the dojos conform with the constitution, remain consistent with the rules of the Karate Federation on Nigeria (KFN) and resonate in every way with international best practice for the administration of the sport.
